Chinese Stocks End Wednesday Lower Amid Mixed Sector Performance

Beijing: Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.07 percent to 4,000.14 points. The Shenzhen Component Index also recorded a decline, closing 0.36 percent lower at 13,240.62 points.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the combined turnover of these two indices reached 1.95 trillion yuan (about 275.3 billion U.S. dollars), marking a decrease from the 1.99 trillion yuan recorded on the previous trading day. The market witnessed gains in shares related to ceramics, oil, and textiles, while sectors such as electrical appliances, cement, and power equipment experienced significant losses.



The ChiNext Index, which tracks China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell by 0.39 percent to close at 3,122.03 points. This decline reflects the overall downward trend in the Chinese stock market on Wednesday, as various sectors showed mixed performance.
