City Police arrest four armed robbers

WINDHOEK: The vigilance of a resident in Hochland Park ensured the speedy arrest of four male suspects after they robbed a guest house and fled with the cash register.

The four men entered the guesthouse on Saturday morning around 11h00, after they forced the reception lady into the bathroom where they locked her up and demanded the keys for the safe.

The woman realized the danger as all four were armed with knives and other sharp objects, and informed them the cash is all in the till (cash register).

After cutting the wires from the machine, the four tried to flee the scene in a green Okahandja registered sedan vehicle. But they did not get far as the City Police was at the scene within minutes and carried out the arrest.

Senior Superintendent Gerry Shikesho told Namap that the four drew attention to a bystander when they ran away with the till in their hands and inform the City Police.

‘We want to warn all would-be robbers who have the intend of armed robberies, that we the City Police will stubbornly protect the lives and properties of our residents.’ Shikesho told this reporter.

Shikseho called again on all business owners to be vigilant and not to keep large amounts of cash at their premises as this make them easy targets for robberies.

The four, all Namibians, is not known to the City Police. No one was injured in during the crime, and the lady from the guesthouse is unharmed.

Shikesho praised her bravery as she kept calm and could assist to the arrest of the four.

They are expected to appear in Windhoek Magistarte’s court early this week.

Their vehicle will be impounded as investigations into the matter continues.
