Cops Grill Each Other in Sport

The 20-th edition of the annual National Sports Championships of the Namibian Police, officially got underway in Keetmanshoop in the Karas Region on Wednesday.

Officially launching the championships, Inspector General of the Namibian Police, Sebastian Ndeitunga, said the main objective of the event is to foster friendship, trust and understanding through sport and to organise, regulate and administer sports for both men and women who are serving members of the force.

Ndeitunga, whose speech was read on his behalf by Major General, Des Shilunga, Chairman of the Nampol National Sports Council, called on the participants to take the competition seriously as the officers who are performing good will represent Namibia in Swaziland, next year.

“This is indeed a platform for our police sports men and women to open communication, trust, friendship and interaction that will enhance cooperation amongst our members as they get to know each other.”

Welcoming participating officers to Keetmanshoop, Mayor Moses Titus, said the annual sport event will mean increased business for the town and the business fraternity in general.

“Stop being police officers for few days, enjoy yourself, explore and interact with the local people, make friends but most importantly, when competing, make sure that you are noted”.
