Zhengzhou: Cotton futures saw an upward trend as they closed higher Monday during daytime trading on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange (ZCE). The increase was noted in the most active cotton contract for January 2026 delivery, which rose by 55 yuan, approximately 7.74 U.S. dollars, reaching a closing price of 13,885 yuan per tonne.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the total trading volume for the six listed cotton futures contracts on the ZCE amounted to 279,205 lots, with a considerable turnover of 19.35 billion yuan. China, known as the world’s largest producer, consumer, and exporter of textiles, introduced cotton futures on the ZCE in June 2004 to aid cotton-related enterprises in hedging against price fluctuations.
