Speaking at a media briefing here on Wednesday, Chairperson of the Student Representative Council at UNAM, Lelian David said the venues for the prayer day is yet to be announced and it will focus on various issues, one of which will be COVID-19.

She said student leaders from various universities and student movements will focus on COVID-19 and create awareness across the entire nation of the pandemic. They will also urge churches to introduce COVID-19 awareness.

Speaking at the same occasion, Public Relations Officer of the Namibian National Student Prayer Day, Benhard Kavau said more emphasis should also be put on gender-based violence, crime, rape and road accidents in the country.

“Every region will have a specific venue for prayer to be held and will be led by student leaders in the regions. There will be a day of fasting before the prayer day. We call on all students to join us in this event,” said Kavau.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church in northern Namibia has pledged to donate free bibles and religious material to all students in the northern regions for the event.
