Deep Yellow Appoints Kasete to Lead Namibia Operations

Swakopmund: Deep Yellow Limited, an ASX-listed uranium development company with major projects in Namibia and Australia, has appointed Zebra Kasete as its managing director in Namibia, effective 05 January 2026. Kasete will support the construction of the Tumas Project in the Erongo Region and will be responsible for running Namibian operations after construction. He will also serve as Deep Yellow’s country head for Namibia and will be based in Swakopmund.



According to Namibia Press Agency, Kasete has more than 35 years’ experience across uranium, diamonds, copper, and gold sectors. His most recent role was as executive vice president of Sinomine Tsumeb Smelter, formerly Dundee Precious Metals, where he also served as managing director. He previously held the role of managing director at Murowa Diamonds Private Limited in Zimbabwe.



Before moving to Zimbabwe, he spent 25 years at Rio Tinto after joining R¶ssing Uranium Limited as a cadet metallurgist. He went on to hold senior operational, technical, procurement, human resources, business development, and external relations roles within R¶ssing and the wider Rio Tinto Group. His experience spans Namibia, Zimbabwe, Australia, and the United States.



Kasete is a metallurgist by training, a past president of the Chamber of Mines of Namibia and holds an MBA in general strategic management from Maastricht University, it said. Kasete was quoted as saying that he feels privileged to return in this role to where his professional career began, mining uranium in Namibia.



‘Tumas is a very important development for both Deep Yellow and Namibia. For me personally, the opportunity to lead and grow a green fields uranium project, including the team that will run the project, is an exciting one that I am very much looking forward to,’ he said.
