Detainee allegedly stabbed with screwdriver at Omuthiya

A man who was allegedly detained on a case of House-breaking with intent to steal and theft was allegedly stabbed with a screwdriver by a fellow inmate inside Omuthiya Police holding cells on Saturday.

A weekend crime report issued on Monday by the Namibian Police Force said the incident happened at around 17h30 when the victim was stabbed in the neck by the suspect for unknown reason and the suspect have two pending cases of Robbery and Assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The victim was transported to Omuthiya State hospital where he was treated and later transferred to Onandjokwe Hospital in a serious but stable condition, the screwdriver was recovered and confiscated and police will continue with investigations.

In different case, Ricky Booi Kock aged 29, who is next of kin have been informed lost his live on Saturday after he was stabbed in the neck with pieces of broken bottles.

It is alleged that the deceased and the suspects were drinking liquor and playing domino at a certain house when an argument erupted that resulted in the stabbing, both suspects were arrested and police investigations continue.

In Arandis, three suspects were arrested for hunting of specially protected game on Saturday at about 12h55 inside Valencia mine area, Dorob National Park. It is alleged that the suspects unlawfully and intentionally hunted and killed two mountain zebras and a kudu without authorization.

All the carcasses were recovered and three males aged 24, 24 and 33 were arrested with two hunting rifles, live ammunition and spend cartridges were recovered from inside the vehicle that was used and it now impounded.

While on Sunday, at Onengali village in Ohangwena region, a six year old girl was allegedly raped by a 22 year old man who allegedly had sexual intercourse in the nearby bushes, the suspect was arrested and police investigations continue.
