A man alleged to have been driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested on Monday after he ran over two minor children while trying to cross Eugene Kakukuru Street at Rundu.
The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for the Kavango East Region, Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Tuesday that the incident happened around 14h50 when the children aged six and 13 years, were hit an injured by the unlicensed driver.
“It is alleged that the man was driving from the west to eastern direction at the time of the incident and the kids sustained serious injuries,” he said.
The driver was arrested on the spot and is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
In an unrelated incident, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her ex-boyfriend at Kehemu on Sunday.
The suspect was arrested on Monday and is expected to appear in court at Rundu on Wednesday.
