ECN announces delay in election results

The Electoral Commission of Namibia has delayed the official announcement of the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly, putting fault on connectivity challenges.

A statement released by the commission on Friday evening said the results would be announced on Saturday, 30 November 2019.

The delay in the final announcement of election results is as a result of the ongoing collation of constituency results which could not be finalised as expected, it said.

'The ECN experienced unexpected connectivity challenges in certain constituencies relating to the transmission of election results.'

The affected constituencies are Opuwo Rural, Etayi, Ogongo, Ondobe, Eengodi, Moses Garoeb, Windhoek West and Windhoek East.

By 23h40, only 98 out of 121 constituencies for the National Assembly election, and 105 constituencies in the Presidential election were counted.
