The Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture received the largest allocation of N.dollars 13.8 billion in the 2021/22 National Budget tabled by Minister of Finance, Ipumbu Shiimi here Wednesday.

The allocation is N.dollars 407 932 less than the ministry’s allocation during the 2020/21 National Budget when it received N.dollars 14 185 747.

Ipumbu who tabled the budget in the National Assembly said the Ministry of Health and Social Services received the second-largest allocation of N. dollars 8.1 billion, an increase of N.dollars 129 706 compared to N.dollars 8.0 billion allocated last year.

According to Shiimi, the amount allocated to the health ministry is to, among others, support the national response on COVID-19, the associated roll-out of the vaccination plan, acquisition of pharmaceuticals and continued provision of services countrywide.

Meanwhile, the finance minister said the amount appropriated to social sectors for this financial year totals 53.1 per cent of non-interest expenditure, amounting to N.dollars 31.6 billion.
