Eighth edition of the Swakopmund International Trade Exposition started Wednesday

The eighth edition of the Swakopmund International Trade Exposition (SWAITEX) started here on Wednesday.

Created by the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) in 2013, the event provides an opportunity for business and community stakeholders to showcase their products and services to the public, while at the same time forging networks and business linkages for economic growth.

Speaking during the official opening of the event, Deputy Minister of Industrialisation, Trade and SME Development Lucia Iipumbu emphasised the importance of quality of goods and services produced within the country, saying they improve international trade.

She explained that improved goods and services is a major area that penetrates regional and international markets and takes advantage of the benefits from the preferential trade arrangements there is to continue negotiating in the various trade agreements with other trade partners.

Iipumbu said deepening Africa's economic integration will ultimately involve the implementation of integrated macroeconomic and sectoral policies, capable of fostering diversification and channelling investments to higher productivity activities.
