Ekandjo Pats Old Mutual On the Back

In a rare public appearance, the Minister of the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sports and Culture, Jerry Ekandjo, said citizens should proudly take off their hats for corporate companies like Old Mutual, and applauded the company for its commitment towards valuable social transformation initiatives while urging other to follow suit.

The honourable senior lawmaker was delivering the keynote address at the prize giving ceremony of the annual Old Mutual Victory Series, during a special gathering in the capital yesterday.

“The line ministry values and appreciates the complimentary role being played by the local business community in promoting and sponsoring social activities, particularly sport.

Ekandjo added that meaningful development of the Namibian nation could only take place if all citizens show interest in the affairs that matters profoundly. “Sport is one of those affairs, hence my solid encouragement for the business fraternity to continue their support to sport.

“Through the 14-years of hosting the annual road race series, Old Mutual Victory Race has invested a staggering amount of more than N$4,2 million dollars by promoting a healthy lifestyle and subsequently supporting the development of local athletes in a bid to create a worthy platform for aspiring and professional athletes to showcase their God given talents”.

He could not heap enough praises on the company’s initiative to introduce a 5-kilometre fun walk for the physically challenged athletes. “I wish to categorically state that the Old Mutual Victory Race series has and will always enjoy the full support of my ministry,” he concluded
