Elections 2022: MPLA leader announces works on Mavinga-Rivungo section

Luanda – The MPLA party’s candidate for President of the Republic João Lourenço Friday announced the construction of a road to link the localities of Mavinga (Cuito Cuanavale) in Angiola and Rivungo (Namibia).

The politician made the pledge during a mass political event held

in Menongue, south-east Cuando Cubango province, as part of the campaign for the general elections on 24 August.

João Lourenço said the construction and rehabilitation of inter-municipal roads in Cuando Cubango province will start in the first days of 2022-2027 term, if elected.

The MPLA leader said that the Angolan Government, over the last five years, made many achievements for the economic and social development of the country and the Angolan people.

When describing the various achievements of socio-economic impact on the country, the MPLA leader spoke of the mobility, the investments made in roads, railways, ports and airports.

João Lourenço announced plans for construction of higher education institutions in several provinces, should the party wins the elections.

In Cuando Cubango, MPLA candidate announced the construction of Menongue University from scratch in order to ensure the autonomy of the region.

The election campaign is running from 24 July to 22 August.

It will be the fifth time that Angolans go to the polls since 1992.
