Erongo governor announces 26 July as prayer day for residents

Governor of Erongo Region, Neville Andre-Itope has requested the residents of the region to set aside Sunday, 26 July 2020 as a day for prayer.

Itope during the weekly COVID-19 media briefing here on Friday announced the prayer day.

“To the residents of the Erongo Region and Namibia at large, wherever you are on Sunday, at 15h00, go down on your knees for a few minutes to pray for the protection and welfare of our region and Namibia,” he urged.

He further requested all churches who wished to participate to ring their bells at exactly 15h00 on Sunday.

A church service led by different church leaders in the region will be streamed live on different social media platforms as from 16h00.

“I will join these church leaders through a Skype prayer event, and urge everyone who can to tune in to the service,” Itope added.

He also called for tighter existing measures to be taken in order to slow down the rate of COVID-19 transmission as the region approaches its peak of infections.
