Jenson’s research is about localising smart phone applications as a means to benefit communities. “We have all these local problems facing both rural and urban communities and what we need is local solutions. What we want to do is to provide better services to everybody using smart-phones and in that way focusing on capacity building.”
He told the Economist that with smart phones becoming even more affordable and with new products hitting the market, it is important for us as a country to be one step ahead of developments. “If Namibia succeeds, then other African countries will want the same applications applicable to them and we can eventually make money from the whole concept.”
