A 37-year-old woman died instantly on Monday night after the sedan she was driving allegedly collided with a truck on the B1 road between Okahandja and Otjiwarongo.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Tuesday that the accident happened at approximately 73 kilometres north of Okahandja at around 23h00.

She has been identified by her close relatives as Ndahafa Idda Tanyaanda.

According to Mbeha, the deceased was travelling from Outapi in the Omusati Region to Windhoek at the time of the accident and she was travelling with a nine-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl.

“Tanyaanda was also an eight-month expectant mother,” Mbeha said.

The two children who were with her, survived the accident with some minor injuries, said the police officer.

Police investigations into the cause of the collision are underway, she said.
