Ohangwena: Police in the Ohangwena Region are investigating the death of a man who fell from a moving vehicle and was subsequently run over by another car. The incident occurred on Friday on the Oshiweda-Eembaxu gravel road, located between the Oshuulu and Onakalunga villages, according to the weekend crime report.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, stated that the 34-year-old man, a passenger in a white Nissan Hardbody, fell out after the rear door unexpectedly opened while the vehicle was traveling in a northern direction. “He was run over by a dark grey Toyota traveling in the same direction, dying instantly at the scene,” Shikwambi said.
The body was taken to the Eenhana State Hospital mortuary for an autopsy. Both drivers were licensed and tested negative for alcohol. Police investigations are ongoing.
In an unrelated matter, the Namibian Police in the Omusati Region are investigating a case of rape involving an 18-year-old Angolan female victim and a 26-year-old Namibian male suspect. Regional Commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson, confirmed that the incident took place on Friday at Oshimanya village in the Okahao Constituency. “The suspect unhooked the chain on the door of the victim’s sleeping room, entered, and had sexual intercourse with the victim under coercive circumstances,” Basson said. The suspect has been arrested, and police investigations continue.
