Finance Ministry avails N.dollars 370 million to NSFAF

Finance Minister Calle Schlettwein availed N.dollars 370 million to The Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) for the stranded students on Friday

This follows after Students' Union of Namibia (SUN) president, Simon Amunime along with his leadership team met with the Finance Minister and Executive Directors to discuss student funding.

Schlettwein confirmed with this agency on Friday that the monies availed is for the students that are stranded in Windhoek as a result of NSFAF's delayed payments of students' tuition and non-tuition fees which are either unpaid or not paid in full and this has been the trend for 2018 as well as 2019.

Schlettwein said this money was agreed upon previously to go to NSFAF for student funding.

On Wednesday, Amunime declared student funding a crisis and said the organisation's members, along with university students, will camp outside the Ministry of Finance until they receive an answer.
