Five year-old boy allegedly murdered by step-father at Walvis Bay

A 29-year-old man was detained in Walvis Bay for the alleged murder of his five-year-old step-son on Friday evening at around 18h00.

According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Erongo Community Affairs Commander, Inspector Ileni Shapumba, through a crime report issued on Saturday, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect alleged picked up the boy from a local tuck shop in Walvis Bay’s Tutaleni residential area in Johanna Benson Street.

The deceased’s biological mother then reportedly received a text message shortly after the incident from an unknown number informing her to pick up her child’s lifeless body from the dunes.

According to the police, the body of Wilfred Dantani Eiseb was allegedly found by a passer-by half buried in the dunes near the Welcome to Walvis Bay road sign.

The suspect is allegedly married to the deceased’s mother but they were not living together.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death and police investigations continue.
