Formal bail hearing of 34-year-old who stands accused of stabbing another man to death here in February this year

The formal bail hearing of 34-year-old Angula Immanuel Shaningilwe who stands accused of stabbing another man to death here in February this year, was on Friday postponed to next week.

Shaningilwe is accused of stabbing 45-year-old Joseph Johannes in the neck at a cuca shop in the Extension 7 informal settlement on 13 February.

The accused made another appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court before magistrate Melissa Mungunda, who postponed his case to 29 October 2019 for continuation of bail hearing.

On Friday the defence closed its arguments and will on the next court date, hear testimony from state witnesses on why the accused should not be granted bail.

At the start of the accused's bail hearing on 16 October, State Representative Frederick van der Colf informed the court that the State opposed bail because it is not in the interest of the public and of administration of justice for bail to be granted.
