Former footballer avails sports gear to school

Former footballer Kapora Murangi donated football attire worth N.dollars 16 000 to Epukiro Secondary School (ESS) in Omaheke Region on Friday.

The footballer known as ‘Poraa’ played for Otjozondjima, Epukiro Chiefs, African Stars, Okakarara-based Manchester and Forests from Otjiwarongo.

Speaking to Nampa at the handing-over occasion Murangi said his love for football motivated him to contribute to the school.

“This is the only secondary school in Epukiro, I watched them playing and noticed that they need support,” Murangi said.

The prolific goal scorer added that not only Government must assist in terms of schools development, but the community must work collectively and assist as well.

“The school has been performing tremendously well and I hope this gear will motivate them,” he said.

Receiving the donation, ESS principal Sagarias Uanivi said it is a good gesture from Murangi which will encourage the team to perform better.

“Currently the school team has one pair of uniform, sometimes the colours matched opponents’ colours and this forced us to change which was not easy,” said Uanivi.

Uanivi further added that the school is performing well academically and have to excel in sports activities as well.

“This is a very good example from Poraa and Otjombongarero peers who contributed to the sports development at the school,” he said.
