Former priest of the Anglican Diocese of Namibia, Lukas Kaluwapa Katenda is now the head of the Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church of Namibia

Former priest of the Anglican Diocese of Namibia, Lukas Kaluwapa Katenda is now the head of the Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church of Namibia (REACH-Namibia), following his consecration held at Ondangwa on Sunday.

Katenda is taking over from the church's first Bishop Peter Kalangula, who died in 2008.

Kalangula, who was also the leader of the defunct Ovambo Administration, was the founding Bishop of the Church of England in Namibia, now known as REACH-Namibia.

Katenda united members of Kalangula's Church of England in Namibia with his breakaway from the Anglican Diocese of Namibia and eventually formed up the REACH-Namibia flock.

Speaking at the same occasion, Oshana Region Governor, Elia Irimari described Katenda as a young and revolutionary priest and reminded him of the importance of maintaining the separation between the Church and the State.
