From sitting on the side to finding work

Elzita Beukes (centre) of Bank Windhoek handed a sponsorship of N$128980 to the General Manager of Men on the side of the Road, Janet Wicks. With them is Theofelus Nakale, an MSR member. Creating employment opportunities for unemployed Namibians is one of Bank Windhoek’s social investment focus areas. This support government efforts such as TIPEEG to reduce unemployment especially amongst the youth and disadvantaged Namibians in order to reach the goals and objectives of Namibia’s Vision 2030.
It is for this reason that Bank Windhoek continues to support Men-on-the-Side-of-the-Road (MSR) for 2013 with N$128,980. More than 200 unemployed men, at the more than 100 job seeking sites around Windhoek are expected to benefit from the support.
MSR was established in 2007 to create jobs and training opportunities to men who sit on the side of road waiting for work. MSR also works in partnership with training providers, government ministries and private organisations to develop the skills, attitudes and aptitudes, required by MSR members, for work and self-employment.
