The Erongo police are on the hunt for a 35-year-old G4S security guard who is reportedly on the run after allegedly stealing N.dollars 300 000 meant for a Bank Windhoek ATM on Friday.

The suspect allegedly took off with the box of cash while his colleagues, who left him in the cash-in-transit vehicle, were loading money at another ATM machine at Swakopmund’s Spar Ocean View.

According to a crime report issued by Erongo Community Policing Commander, Inspector Ileni Shapumba of the Namibian Police Force, on Saturday, when the security guards returned to the car in order to proceed to Arandis, they did not find the suspect.

A case was opened on Saturday at Swakopmund Police Station.

Police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, the police are also searching for an accused person who escaped from custody at Swakopmund Police Station on Saturday. The accused, Sakaria Silas was detained for housebreaking with intent to steal.

Silas escaped together with another accused, who was re-arrested at a village in Omuthiya in the Oshikoto Region.
