Geingob appoints new high court judges

President Hage Geingob, acting on the recommendations of the Judicial Service Commission of Namibia, has appointed three (3) more High Court Judges in order to enable this court to deal expeditiously with its daily workloads.

Sevelia Nghitumbwa, the Executive Private Secretary to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Namibia officially announced the appointment of the three Judges in a media statement availed to Nampa here on Sunday morning.

Justice Thomas Masuku, who had already been serving on the bench of the Windhoek High Court, has been re-appointed as Judge of the High Court for a further period of five (5) years, effective from 01 January 2021.

Windhoek-based legal practitioner Esi Schimming-Chase has been appointed as an Acting Judge of the High Court for the period 01 October 2020 to 15 December 2020.

Schimming-Chase is currently a legal practitioner in private practice.

She has also previously served as an Acting Judge of the High Court in the years 2011, 2013 and 2015.

Danie Small has been appointed as an Acting Judge of the High Court for the period 01 October 2020 to 15 December 2020.

He will serve at the Northern Local Division of the High Court in Oshakati in the Oshana Region.

Small worked as a prosecutor, magistrate, State Advocate and Deputy Prosecutor-General and is currently a legal practitioner in private practice.
