Geingob launches Swapo Election Manifesto at Outapi

Thousands Swapo members, supporters and sympathisers, including former President Hifikepunye Pohamba, gathered at Outapi in the Omusati Region for the launch of the party's 2019 Election Manifesto by President Hage Geingob on Saturday.

The event was held in a celebrating fashion. I stand before you here, filled with pride and a rejuvenated sense of purpose, as we prepare to launch our political roadmap towards a bright future, the 2019 Swapo Party Election Manifesto, said Geingob, while delivering his launching address.

He told the audience that Swapo has maintained its political success due to the evolution of ideas, continuity of leadership and unity of purpose.

This, Geingob said, is well captured in the notion of The Legacy Continues. He noted that over six national election cycles, Swapo has continued to succeed, by proving itself to be a political party that is adaptable, forward-thinking and highly innovative.

According to him, the party's internal stability, which has enabled it to function efficiently and effectively for the past 59 years of existence, has also enable the party to entrench a legacy of peace, stability and prosperity in Namibia.

Geingob, who is also the Swapo President, believes his party possesses the capacity and work ethic to deliver on the second phase of the struggle (economic emancipation).

This manifesto, is our contract with the people of Namibia, Geingob stated, adding that the manifesto is Swapo's declaration of its intentions, motives and views on how to take Namibia forwards to bigger things and brighter future.

He then called on Namibians to hold hands and join Swapo in order to pull together in the same direction towards a brighter future for all.

Geingob went on to say only Swapo can move Namibia forward with ambitious plans to unlock the national potential.

Speaking at the same occasion, Swapo secretary-general, Sophia Shaningwa told those present that the party's leadership will strive to continue creating an enabling environment in order to empower people to improve their living standard.

In order to improve our standard of living as a country, we need to work together towards a prosperous Namibia, said Shaningwa, while asking people not to be misled and turn against Swapo.

The Swapo secretary-general reiterated Geingob is the sole and authentic presidential candidate of the party in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections due to take place in the country on 27 November this year.
