President Hage Geingob delivered the 2023 State of the Nation Address (SONA) and termed this year, the year of ‘Revival’ in the National Assembly on Thursday.

Geingob delivered the SONA based on the circumstances Namibia finds itself in and said it also speaks on the opportunities that lie ahead for the country.

“Owing to my firm belief in our ability as a nation to restore our fortunes, I termed this year, ‘The Year of Revival.’ Revival is defined as the improvement in the strength and condition of a particular thing in restoration to life,” he said.

He said as a leader he can dream and point towards the direction of prosperity, but it is up to every Namibian to actualise these dreams.

To ensure that 2023 will truly be a year of revival, his SONA touched on effective governance, improved performance and service delivery, enhanced security and rule of law, accountability and transparency as well as strengthening national anti-corruption mechanisms.

The president also addressed the nation on economic advancement and enhancing the productivity of priority economic sectors, amongst others.

He was accompanied by First Lady Monica Geingos.
