A four to six-month-old foetus of a girl was found dumped at a garbage area situated between the DRC and Ombili informal settlements at Otjiwarongo on Saturday morning.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, told Nampa in an interview on Saturday that a group of children found the foetal remains at about 09h00 at the garbage area.

Mbeha said two plastic shopping bags with blood stains suspected to have been used to wrap the body before it was discarded, were also found on the site.

“So far no suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, and it is for this reason we are calling on any member of the public with information to approach us or any other nearest police station in the country,” she said.

A case of baby dumping and/or concealment of birth has been opened at the Otjiwarongo Police Station and investigations continue.
