Gochas Village Council receives disclaimer audit opinion for 2016, 2017

Gochas Village Council received a disclaimer opinion from the Auditor General for the financial years ended 30 June 2016 and 2017, an audit report presented by Finance Minister, Calle Schlettwein has revealed.

Speaking in the National Assembly on Tuesday, Schlettwein noted that Gochas has non-adherence to recognised accounting frameworks, which includes understatement of land and buildings.

A disclaimer audit opinion is given to organisations for which an auditor is unable to complete an accurate audit due to, among other reasons, an absence of appropriate financial records.

The Village Council in 2016 did not provide the housing loan debtors listing of N.dollars 5 025 802 and the total movement for year recorded to N.dollars 52 391.

It is also contained in the report that a difference of N.dollars 2 919 451 noted for contribution to capital per vote.

No explanation given for all the adjustment processed to the appropriation account amounting to N.dollars 1 507 139, report said.

In the 2017 report, it states that overstatement of capital additions amounts at N.dollars 4 490 600.

The report also shows that Gochas has an understatement of land and buildings amounting to 3 528 739.

A year under review also indicated that Gochas capital expenditure amount value of N.dollars 3 828 216 treated as revenue expenditure.
