Goreangab Water Reclamation Plant shut down for maintenance work

WINDHOEK: The new Goreangab Water Reclamation Plant in Windhoek was temporarily shut down today for urgent maintenance work.

The plant’s normal operations will resume on Friday, City of Windhoek spokesperson Joshua Amukugo said during a media conference in the capital today.

The plant accounts for about 25 per cent of Windhoek’s water supply and its closing might cause a loss of pressure and even water supply interruptions in some areas of Windhoek during the maintenance period.

Amukugo said the water supply from NamWater’s dams and the City of Windhoek’s boreholes will be maximised during the period to ensure that the impact of the shutdown is eliminated or kept to a minimum.

He called on Windhoek residents to use water wisely and refrain from activities that use excessive water such as the watering of gardens, washing of vehicles and hosing of paved areas.
