A Grade 8 learner at the Donatus Senior Secondary School in Otjiwarongo died instantly on Thursday after he was allegedly stabbed in the neck.

The incident occurred in the Eie Risiko informal settlement, the Namibian Police Force’s Otjozondjupa Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Naukalemo Andreas, told Nampa in an interview Friday.

Andreas said the deceased has been identified by relatives as 16-year-old Wesley Dai-Khib.

Dai-Khib was allegedly stabbed once with a kitchen knife in a quarrel with a 20-year-old woman, who is now the suspect.

“He died inside the suspect’s house, and a kitchen knife suspected to have been used in his stabbing was found in the same house,” said Andreas.

The suspect on Friday was detained and is expected to be charged on a single count of murder, she added.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
