HageGeingob is set to attend the signing ceremony of the election peace pledge agreement

President HageGeingob, who is also Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), is set to attend the signing ceremony of the election peace pledge agreement between the Frelimo-led government, the Renamo political organisation and other stakeholders in Mozambique today.

This was revealed in a media statement issued by State House Press Secretary, Alfredo Hengari, yesterday.

The election peace pledge agreement follows a peace accord which marked an official end to the conflict between Renamo's armed fighters and the defence and security forces signed last week Thursday by Mozambique's President, Filipe Nyusi and Renamo leader, OssufoMomade.

The objective of the peace pledge is to hold peaceful elections in October this year.

In the statement, Geingob said he wished to commend Nyusi and the Frelimo-led government for concluding the watershed agreement with the opposition.
