Steven Mulundu told the Windhoek High Court on Wednesday that he advised his sister, co-accused Azaan Madisia, to call the police after the death of Shannon Wasserfall.

Mulundu, who is 24 years old, testified about the sequence of events on the day of the alleged murder. He said Madisia was reluctant to call the police because she was afraid of being arrested. During cross-examination by his Legal Aid lawyer, Tanya Klazen, Mulundu said he suggested calling an ambulance instead. Madisia reportedly replied that there “would be a lot of questions.”

Afterwards, Madisia asked Mulundu for help in putting Wasserfall’s body into her work pick-up, so they could move it somewhere else. The pick-up was parked in the garage of Madisia’s flat, which is located at the back of her grandmother’s house.

When Klazen asked Mulundu if he knew Wasserfall, who was reported missing on 10 April 2020, he said that he did not personally know her. Her remains were found buried at the harbour town on 06 October, after an anonymous text message was sent to Wasserfall’s father.

Meanwhile, Madisia expressed regret in the Windhoek High Court on Tuesday for not calling the police or an ambulance after Wasserfall’s death. Madisia apologised to Wasserfall’s family, saying that it was not her intention, and that she wished she had spoken up earlier. Judge Christie Liebenberg is presiding over the case.
