Kameru Combined School received donations for marginalised learners from Namib Aide, a French non-governmental organisation (NGO) through their partner in Namibia, Furaha Tours and Safaris on Thursday.

The donations included clothes, backpacks, shoes and games to benefit learners from marginalised communities like the Ovazemba and Ovahimba who at times go to school without proper clothing, the school principal Hekemo Mumbuu said while receiving the donation.

Mumbuu said: ‘I am very happy to receive this third donation from the French NGO Namib Aide and others like the People’s Republic of Japan of N.dollars 1 million and United States of America (USA) with volunteers between 2003 and 2005.”

At the same occasion, president of Namib Aide, Hennig Franck said the donation came as a result of a boy they found in the streets of Opuwo in 2015, who asked for water to drink. “We bought him water, and my wife and I then decided to help children from this town (Opuwo). As a result, we put some of our resources together and collected some clothes from Samaritans and today it is what we are donating,” said Franck.

Franck further said they plan to work with schools in Opuwo in the long term in order to provide them with food and construction materials.

Meanwhile, Furaha Tours and Safaris managing director and owner, Ilunga Delphin said they not only provide tour guiding services, but also have an obligation to give back to the communities where they are touring, through working together with their friends from other countries, especially tourists they are guiding.

Kameru Combined #chool has about 30 teachers and 657 learners.
