Kandume Festive Sporting Galore Awaits Ongenga

Ongenga: The first edition of the annual Kandume Youth Tournament is scheduled this weekend at the Ongenga Secondary School stadium in the Ohangwena Region. With the festive season underway, many local towns are hosting sporting events, and Ongenga’s tournament is set to be a highlight.



According to Namibia Press Agency, this inaugural edition will feature football, netball, volleyball, and boxing events, aiming to unite businesspeople and sports enthusiasts in celebrating the festive season. Tournament organiser Joe Ndahangwapo emphasized the goal of providing a platform for emerging talent and promoting sportsmanship. He stated plans for the tournament to become an annual event with increased participation and prize money, aiming to attract at least 40 football teams.



Sponsored by businessman Laban Kandume, the event has a sponsorship of N.dollars 190,000. The registration fee for football is N.dollars 1,000, netball N.dollars 800, with free registration for volleyball. Prizes for football include N.dollars 45,000 for the champions, while netball winners will receive N.dollars 20,000. Volleyball champions will earn N.dollars 15,000, and the boxing champion will receive N.dollars 1,000 along with boxing equipment.
