KASU’s Nefie Kandjii tourney starting this weekend

The eighth edition of the Katutura Sports Union's (KASU) NeefieKandjii Cup will start at the Katutura Youth Complex in Windhoek on Saturday 05 October.

Confirming to Nampa on Thursday, Kuveri Tjonga who is the organiser of the competition said 18 football and 14 netball will play a part.

He added that an amount of N.dollars 25 000 in prizemoney will be up for grabs during the tournament.

Besides trophies and medals, the knock-out competition will see the winners in the netball category taking home N.dollars 3 000, while the winners of the football competition will walk away with N.dollars 8 000.

The runners-up for netball and football will win N.dollars 2 000 and N.dollars 5 000 respectively, while the losing semi-finalists will each get N.dollars 1 000 in the netball competition and N.dollars 2 500 for football.

The football matches will start at 07h00 on Saturday.

However, Tjonga added that the netball matches will start next Saturday 12 October 2019 at the Khomasdal Stadium.

This will also be the weekend for the finals of both netball and football competitions, he said.

Tjonga further added that five premier league players per team will be allowed to boost the morale of the other players.

Inter Dee from Ovituua are the defending champions in the football category, while Windhoek-based Truck Team won the netball category last year.
