Kaushiweni Abraham to be sworn in at NC

Chief Justice Peter Shivute is expected to swear in Oshana Regional Councillor for the Ondangwa Rural Constituency Kaushiweni Abraham Ondangwa Rural Constituency as a member of the National Council on Tuesday.

This information was confirmed by Pamela Mate, Pamela Mate Senior Information Officer at the National Council (NC) in an interview with Nampa on Monday.

Abraham will replace the late Oshakati East Constituency Councilor Lotto Kuushomwa who died in May at the age of 59 after collapsing in the NC chambers.

Yes, he will be sworn in tomorrow. Normally, it is the Chief Justice who presides over the swearing-in ceremony. If for any reason he is no available, maybe he will delegate the Judge President [Petrus Damaseb], Mate said.

Damaseb is Shivute's deputy.

Efforts to get a comment from Shivute regarding the swearing-in ceremony were futile as he could not be reached on his mobile phone.

If Abraham is sworn in on Tuesday as planned, he will join Rosalia Shilenga of the Okatana Constituency and Joseph Mupetami of the Okatyali Constituency as the three councilors representing the Oshana Region in the NC.

Each region, except the Ohangwena Region - whic has two - has three representatives in the NC.
