Khomas triumphant at NamPol National Games at Oshakati

The Khomas Region was declared the overall champions of the six-day 2019 Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Annual National Sport Championships which ended at Oshakati in the Oshana region on Saturday.

The event took place for the 24th consecutive year. Khomas Region, as the overall winner, scooped the top titles of floating trophies and gold medals in both the main sport code, men football and football for women.

/Karas and the host Oshana are regions in the second and third position, respectively. Khomas dominated and won in other sport items such as chess, volleyball (men), netball, athletics (men), long jump, javelin (men), shotput (men), high jump (men) and high jump (women).

Prominent Namibian athletes such as Beata Naigambo, Lavinia Haitope, Daniel Nghipandulwa, and MynhardtKauanivi also featured in the championship for the Khomas Region.

Speaking at the event's closing ceremony, commander of NamPol in the Oshana Region, Commissioner RauhaAmwele said participants exercised high discipline and behaved well, without any quarrel encountered, during the course of the tournament.

Please keep it up, because there is no force (NamPol) without discipline, Amwele urged the NamPol athletes.

Some 850 NamPol members from the regions of Khomas, Oshana, Omusati, Oshikoto, Otjozondjupa, Kavango East, Erongo, Kunene, /Karas, Hardap and Omaheke participated in the championships.
