The Momentum Metropolitan Empowerment Trust on Wednesday donated three industrial washing machines to the Ecumenical Primary School hostel at Koichas in the ||Kharas Region.

The school is situated in Vaalgras and was co-founded by former Cabinet member Willem Konjore in 1983 with 48 learners. It currently has 377 learners.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the school’s principal Silvia Hange said the industrial washing machines will replace the old domestic washing machines at the hostel.

Hange, while extending a word of gratitude to the trust, urged the school community to take good care of the equipment.

“Thank you for your support. Together we can make a difference in these children’s lives… The interest you have shown is a clear indication of your solidarity and reconfirmation of your interest in the education of our children and school,” she said.

Also speaking was Momentum Metropolitan empowerment trust board representative Braam Boshoff, who said the trust believes in actively playing a role in uplifting communities, especially where children are involved. He said the trust specifically wants to aid communities in the areas of job creation, skills development and poverty alleviation.

“The given field that we are in puts us in a position of trust to help people in realising their dreams and aspirations, especially when it comes to education. I would like to urge the students to dedicate themselves to their studies to ensure the best for their future,” he said.

The washing machines are valued at N.dollars 23 000.
