Lab results now available in police officer drug case

Laboratory test results are now available in a case of a 32-year-old police officer who was arrested and charged with possession of drugs in November last year.

This was made known to Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court on Monday by prosecutor Coleen Yisa when the accused, Andries Haman, appeared before Magistrate Melissa Mungunda.

Mungunda then postponed the case to 25 November 2019 for legal aid of the accused person.

In previous appearance Haman was represented by private lawyer Shafi Shimakeleni however on Monday the accused indicated to court that he has instructed Legal Wise to terminate the services of Shimakeleni.

I also have Legal Shield I have told them to appoint a local lawyer for me and they said they will soon, Haman informed the court.

Haman is out on bail of N.dollars 500.

The accused was arrested after he allegedly reported for duty here while under the influence of alcohol. He, at the same time, was allegedly found with two half Mandrax tablets and one gram of pure cannabis, valued at N.dollars 110, in his possession after a search by a member of the Namibian Police Force's Drug Unit.
