LATIN AMERICAN SATELLITE TV CHANNE; TELESUR TO BROADCAST TO AFRICA

CARACAS-- The multinational satellite television channel Telesur, based in Caracas, will extend its signal to 25 African countries under an agreement with cable TV operator Moja Media, says Telesur president Patricia Villegas.

'Telesur arrives in Africa,' tweeted Villegas while celebrating the arrival on August 31 of the television signal in English to countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Sudan, Mozambique, Gambia and Ghana.

Likewise, the television station pointed out in a statement that these actions would strengthen its mission to spread the reality of the less favoured. Telesur's statement also highlighted the historical ties between Africa and the Latin American and Caribbean region.

"We put all the technology of our multi-platform at the service of the peoples of the South, confident that the countries of Africa will be recognized on our screens and will connect with the realities of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean," the statement said.
