Luis stars as UNAM reclaim top position

University of Namibia's (Unam) fullback Lorenzo Luis scored 26 of his side's 56 points as his team beat Wanderers 56-31 in a top of the table clash at the University's sports ground on Saturday and in the process regain top spot on the log.

Luis, scored one try, converted six out of the seven scored by his team and added three penalty goals, to lead his side to an emphatic victory against the defending champions who started the day on second on the log, while Unam was on third.

Unam, were no match for Wanderers and took a 29-14 halftime score, scored their other tries through Paolo Andrews, Shreave Titus, Reiner Benade, Cameron Langenhoven and replacements Clyde Besser and EnzioKotzee.

Wanderers, who gave a good account f themselves replied through MP Pretorius, who scored a hatrick of tries, WesselsBredell and ElmarcoBeukes while Brandon Groenewald converted three and missed two.

Following the victory, which came with two bonus points for the students, Unam moves to the top of the log with 46 points while Wanderers moves to second on 43 points.

The two teams will meet again on Friday 03 August at Wanderers Sports Club.

Both teams went into the match missing several of their first team players who are currently training with the national team, 12 for Unam and 16 for Wanderers.

Meanwhile Kudu's beat Reho Falcons by 41-03 in the only other match played on Saturday.
