Man allegedly commits suicide at Etambo-Okankolo village

A 24-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at Etambo-Okankolo village in the Oshikoto Region on Friday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in a crime report on Sunday said Thomas Martin’s body was found hanging from a tree with a rope around his neck.

“The body was transported to Onandjokwe State Hospital for a post-mortem,” the report said.

No suicide note was left behind and Martin’s next of kin have been informed.

The police further reported that a 32-year-old man was arrested in the Maltahöhe district on Saturday after he was found in possession of three sheep carcasses valued at N.dollars 3600.

“He could not provide proper proof of ownership,” NamPol said.

The suspect was arrested and police investigations continue.

Meanwhile, a 44-year-old pedestrian was run over on the Outapi-Raucana gravel road on Friday.

“It is alleged that the pedestrian sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident,” the crime report said.

It said the 62-year-old man who was driving the Toyota Hilux pick-up that allegedly hit the man was headed from Outapi to Ruacana.

The accident victim was taken to the Outapi District Hospital for treatment and police investigations continue.
