Man allegedly dies after being struck by lightning at Ngaraunda Farm

A 21-year-old man allegedly died after being struck by lightning at Ngaraunda Farm in the Kavango East Region on Monday.

The Namibian Police Force’s Crime Investigations Coordinator in the region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, told Nampa on Thursday that the incident occurred around 15h00.

It is alleged that the deceased, along with his daughter and brother, were taking shelter from heavy rain in a hut which was struck by lightning and then caught fire.

He said the deceased’s brother and daughter both escaped without serious injuries and were rushed to the Nyangana Hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Maundu Muhoko.

His body was also transported to the Nyangana Hospital.

Police investigations continue.
