An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old suspect at Omaruru on Saturday, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend serious crime report indicates.

The report issued on Sunday alleges that the minor was raped by the suspect believed to be her uncle.

“It is alleged that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim in the kitchen while the grandmother was in the sleeping room. The victim later informed the grandmother, who then reported the matter to the police,” the report reads.

The suspect was not yet arrested.

In a separate incident, a 69-year old man allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl on Friday at Windhoek’s Babylon informal settlement. The suspect is believed to be the grandfather of the victim.

He was arrested and is expected to appear in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The police further said that a six-year-old was allegedly raped by a 25-year-old man on Wednesday who resides at the same apartments in Windhoek as the victim.

The suspect was arrested.

Investigations into all matters continue.
