A 41-year-old man died instantly at Ombujovakuru village outside Okakarara on Monday after he was allegedly stabbed several times in the chest and back.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in an interview with Nampa on Tuesday said the deceased was identified by his next of kin as Regant Kavetu.

Mbeha stated that Kavetu and a 35-year-old male suspect were allegedly involved in a heated quarrel before the stabbing occurred.

It is alleged that during their quarrel, Kavetu picked up a beer bottle and threw it at the suspect’s face, hitting him and leading to him pulling out a sharp object and stabbing his alleged attacked several times.

“Kavetu died on the spot and the suspect was arrested shortly after,” said Mbeha.

The suspect faces a murder charge and is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate’s Court this week.

Police investigations continue.
