Man allegedly stabbed to death during a fight at Okondjatu

An adult man died instantly Thursday night at Okondjatu after he was allegedly stabbed once in the chest with a knife during a physical fight.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Saturday said a 55-year-old suspect has been arrested.

Mbeha said the deceased originally comes from Otjinene and his close relatives are yet to be formally informed of his death.

t i alleged the two men were seen drinking traditionally brewed liquor at Omunati village at Okondjatu, and later a fight between the two broke out, said Mbeha.

The police officer added it was during that fight the 55-year-old suspected man had allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the deceased in the left side of the upper chest once, killing him there instantly.

Mbeha said it is still unknown to the police on the cause of the fight between the two men.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Okakarara Magistrate's Court Monday on a charge of murder.

Police investigations continue.
