Man allegedly stabs cousin to death at Otjiwarongo

The police at Otjiwarongo have arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the death of his cousin, whose body was discovered at the town’s Telecom residential area in the early hours of Sunday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report on Sunday said the deceased, identified as Siegfried Guruseb, was found lying in the street with stab wounds. The incident occurred around 03h45.

“It is alleged that he was stabbed with a sharp object by the suspect during an argument,” said the report.

In a separate incident, police in Windhoek are yet to retrieve the body of a seven-year-old boy after he allegedly drowned in the Goreagab Dam while swimming with his friend on Friday.

Meanwhile, at Okathakongala village in the Omusati Region, a 39-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in a mahangu field at the village.

The body of the deceased, identified as Iipinge Wilbard Linekela was found by his uncle in the mahangu field on Sunday around 07h20. He was last seen on Saturday around 16h00 in the Eviliwa residential area, also at the village. No suicide note was found.

In the Omusati Region at Omalyadhila village, a 26-year-old man also committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in the room he was sleeping in. He was identified as Uunona Sem Ndeshipanda and his body was found around 23h20 on Saturday by his cousin.

Meanwhile, police at Kalkrand in the Hardap Region on Friday arrested a 33-year-old man after he was allegedly found in possession of drugs with a street value of more than N.dollars 22 000.

The man was arrested during a police operation on the Kalkrand to Hoachanas gravel road after he was allegedly found with 160 Mandrax tablets, 225 grams of skunk cannabis and 230 grams of pure cannabis valued at N.dollars 22 250.

All deceased persons’ next of kin are aware of their deaths and police investigations into all matters continue.
