A 37-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly stabbed another man on his neck causing him serious injuries the at Rundu.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)'s Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Kavango East Region Deputy Commissioner, Bonifatius Kanyetu, told Nampa on Monday that the incident happened at Sharuwand village in the Ndiyona Constituency at around 20h30.

It is alleged that the incident took place at a shebeen where the two men were drinking.

According to Kanyetu, an argument broke out between the two, after which the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the victim on the neck.

The victim was rushed to the Nyangana Catholic Hospital where his condition is reported to be serious.

The suspect was arrested on the same day and is expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of attempted murder.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
