Man arrested for possession of illicit goods at Oshivelo

A 32-year-old man was arrested at the Oshivelo checkpoint in the Oshikoto Region on Monday after he was allegedly found in possession of 135 boxes of illicit goods.

This was revealed in the Namibian Police Force’s daily crime report issued on Wednesday.

It is alleged that the suspect was intercepted and found with the 135 boxes of Yes cigarettes in a truck he was driving.

The truck allegedly belongs to Onamulunga Service Station in Ondangwa, where the suspect was traveling from Windhoek.

He has been identified as Ndjolomba Antonio Hamunyela and appeared before the Tsumeb Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for the possession of illicit goods.

Hamunyela was granted bail of N.dollars 20 000 and his case postponed to 07 June 2023 for further police investigations.

The illicit goods found in the truck, which have since been confiscated, are valued at N.dollars 411 000.
